The baby's bedroom

How to create the room of your child!

ΠΑΙΔΙΚΟ ΔΩΜΑΤΙΟ

Bearing in mind that:

  • Our babies are what we make of them. We “shape” them daily, starting from the day of their birth.
  • With the colours we choose for their baby room, we influence their thoughts and mood. Their surroundings affect them in positive or negative ways ... and, of course we choose the first!
  • The proximity of our bedroom with that of the child is also, the fastest way to get to our baby even with our eyes shut (consider those late nights when the baby whines in its crib and although the flesh is willing to run immediately to it, our spirit is weak ...).
  • The sun is a friend. The south-east orientation of the room is the ideal choice. This is the only way to achieve the best natural lighting in the room. The sun may, of course, be a friend, but, it must not fall on its crib and annoy our little treasure!
  • Of course, we do not want air drafts in the children's bedroom, but we do want good ventilation. The proper temperature is around 20-23 degrees Celsius.
  • We do not want a damp room for our baby, but we should increase the humidity of the atmosphere in an as natural way as possible (wet towel on the radiator). Avoid ionisers and humidifiers.
  • Inside its room, it should feel free and play with its friends, while growing, without being obstructed by accumulated toys or sports objects, which with time will become one too many!
  • Our target is to adapt its room (as easily and inexpensively as possible) to its needs and personality. Your little angel changes every day and, at the same time, its needs are also changing!
  • It will cause a lot of mess! ... Indeed, when it starts exploring, it will cause a lot of mess ... everywhere ... We must create an environment with materials that are not only healthy but also easy to clean. (And this applies until puberty. After that, you will not be able to even cross its room).
  • At first, pay attention to basic things. The light and mattress are more important for its development than curtains. Thus, focus more on them. . The rest can be easily changed. It is recommended that you do not waste money on expensive fabrics, curtains and accessories with heroes your baby is supposed to love. They may love Spongebob Squarepants at the age of three, but barely use a sponge to wash themselves the age of twelve!

Painting the children's room

It has been shown when babies are born and for few more days, they cannot recognise any colours apart from the very bright ones.

Toys with high colour contrasts, such as striped and plaid patterns, are more appealing to them. They distinguish objects and faces only within a 20-25 cm distance. But, this stage is very brief. With time, they recognise pastels and indeed these colours have a positive effect on them. The beautiful pastels are, thus, the colours recommended for a baby bedroom. Feel free to use them, until their teens when you will have to use the gorgeous bright... blacks! Take advantage of this age to enjoy a room with calm and tender colours.

Colour groups

Green, blue and the neutrals white and grey are cool colours. They provide relaxation and tranquillity.

Warm colours evoke intense and mixed emotions, from joy to frustration. They are yellow, red, orange, pink. Moreover, black and brown can be considered as warm colours, too.

Silver, ivory, grey, white, black, gold and beige are considered neutrals. These colours make most vibrant colours stand out and can be easily combined with all colours.
