Lentil burgers

This is a recipe children love. Often, they may not even know they are made with lentils. But it is advisable, if they do not hate them, to inform them about your choices and to learn that there is not only one way of eat a each food. From the nutritional point of view, lentils are a source of iron, but the containing iron is non-haem and is not as bio-available as that of animal products.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of cooked lentils
  • 1 cup mashed potato
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potatoes
  • ½ cup sesame seeds
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup ricotta or katiki cheese
  • 1 clove garlic crushed

 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven at 180ο Celsius. Put greaseproof paper in a baking tray.
  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  • With wet hands, make medium-sized burgers and place them on the baking tray.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
