Basic Guidelines for Choosing the Right Diaper

Infant skin is particularly sensitive, making it essential to keep it healthy. Healthy skin acts as a barrier against microbes, so avoiding irritations, diaper rashes or infections is vital. Parents often consult their paediatricians about the best diaper choice.

What Criteria Should a Suitable Diaper Meet?

  1. Proper Size:
    • Choose the diaper size based on your baby’s weight and body shape.
    • It should fit well, provide comfort and allow skin to breathe.
    • A good fit ensures freedom of movement for the baby.
  2. Absorbency:
    • A diaper should be highly absorbent to keep the baby’s skin dry and clean, both during day and night when demands are higher.
  3. Safe Design:
    • The diaper should be dermatologically tested by certified centers and free of harmful substances.
    • Opt for diapers certified as safe and suitable for sensitive baby skin.
  4. Skin-Friendly Materials:
    • The diaper should contain proven skin-friendly materials suitable for the delicate skin of infants.
  5. Comfort and Durability:
    • The diaper should be comfortable for the baby while also being durable enough to withstand active use.
  6. Training Pants for Older Children:
    • For older children, consider using pull-up diapers (baby pants).
    • These are more convenient, as the child doesn’t need to lie down for a diaper change and can be a transitional step toward potty training.
